Abstract:
The Air Force is developing a wide variety of technologies for aircraft engine propulsion / engine health management (PHM/EHM). These technologies include; high frequency vibration for bearing monitoring, oil chemistry / condition, oil debris, and on-board life models, for example. Unfortunately, many promising algorithms developed under the SBIR program cannot easily be integrated into existing PHM/EHM systems. The PHM/EHM manufacturers and advanced algorithm developers seem disconnected. A second issue is that PHM technologies have not been integrated with engine control systems to optimize engine performance and safety. IAC, with Hamilton Sundstrand and Luppold & Associates support, proposes to develop a generic hardware and software system to support development and fielding of integrated engine PHM / control systems. This system will also facilitate integration of third party algorithms. This system is based on the PC-104 card format, VxWorksT and Matlab development environment. IAC has extensive experience in development and fielding similar systems for Army helicopter vibration equipment.
