Abstract:
This SBIR addresses the problem of detecting the presence of intruders or terrorists in highly complex detection environments such as littoral regions, ports, coastal waterways, or any other areas that may have a lot of normal activity, and physicalobstructions, that would complicate the detection of a threat. It relies on the use of multiple small high resolution radars, for surveillance, combined with an intelligent system that collects the data from all the sensors, tracks, and classifies allactivity in order to sort out those people or vehicles that have a high probability of being a threat to protected assets. As such, it provides vastly enhanced situational awareness that would allow a very small security staff to monitor and protect largeareas and/or many assets. It also extends the detection of threats much further away from secure or sensitive areas thereby increasing reaction time. Increased situational awareness, early threat/security breach detection, improved airport and sea portsecurity, increased protection for sensitive installations such as oil rigs, fueling stations, etc.
