Abstract:
A high-resolution integrated multi-spectral sensor (MSS) will be developed that incorporates day and night vision, as well as multi-spectral laser spot imaging, into a single sensor package. Using existing extended-spectral-response InGaAs detectors, the responsivity performance of the InGaAs technology will be demonstrated against the variety of designators, rangefinders, and markers. InGaAs arrays will also be shown to provide superior low-light-level (LLL) imaging capability. Using this validation, a novel focal plane array (FPA) will be designed to allow both LLL and multi-spectral laser spot imaging. In Phase I, the system will be designed and simulated. In Phase II, the FPA will be built and integrated into a small-sized package, compatible with handheld operation. The prototype will then be field-tested to verify performance.
