Award Amount:
$499,995.00
Abstract:
There is a need for transportable alternative energy systems capable of providing renewable electric power. The proposed Portable Array Module (PAM) meets this need, promising a new age of sustainable clean energy production and portability in situations where highly reliable energy sources must be established and maintained within a very short timeframe. Within PAM, power is generated by thin film photovoltaic solar cells that are deployed rapidly using a unique deployable composite array structure. Every PAM power system stows within a single ruggedized canister for easy transport to the desired location. Once on site PAM power modules unroll in a matter of seconds. Batteries and the necessary electronics to condition the power as it comes off the array can be located inside the ruggedized transport canister, or at a centralized hub.
