Abstract

The Objective of Phase I was to develop improved methods for explosively disseminating non-toxic obscurant materials while minimizing particle damage and agglomeration due to the explosive forces. Of particular interest were materials having optical properties in both the infrared (IR) and visible spectra. Capco"s approach was to utilize explosive material to generate non-toxic obscurants formed via the highly energetic pyrotechnic reaction of common particulate fuels and oxidizers.
