Anti-Terrorism - Technologies for Asymmetric Naval Warfare Detection, Indication and Warning: Sentinel Net
Agency / Branch:
DOD / NAVY
21CSI proposes, in Phase II, to deliver to the Navy a working prototype of the Sentinel Net system: A wireless, distributed asymmetric threat detection, reporting and situational awareness system for naval force protection. Through a specially designed system of networked client devices linked to a central server, Sentinel Net allows force protection sentries to share information about detected suspicious activity in near-real time, utilizing linked wirelss devices (such as PDAs and cell phones)in a secure networked environment. 21CSI-developed software agents operate within the system to provide knwoledge-based warnings, cautions and advisories to force protection sentries and commanders. Using an evolutionary development approach, Sentinel Net will be implemented in Phase II in eight main tasks over a 24 month main effort period, culminating in realistic devlopmental and shakedown testing. Three options will also be offered to extend the baseline Sentinel Net prototype to enhance system capability for transition to Phase III for the Navy and to other potential customers. Multiple Phase III transition and funding sponsors have been identified.
