Nimble: a Data Management and Visualization Framework for Large Scale Engineering and Science VVUQ Applications

Many U.S. manufacturers use advanced simulation tools to maintain competitiveness in the world marketplace. As sophisticated as these tools are, successful deployment depends upon the skills and experience of an aging workforce. Automated Verification, Validation and Uncertainty Quantification (VV & amp;UQ) tools mitigate the risk of using simulation tools and help capture the knowledge of experts within an organization. The Department of Energy/NNSA needs tools to perform Verification & amp; Validation and Uncertainty Quantification studies to support its mission. JMSI Inc d.b.a Intelligent Light will develop NIMBLE: a new data management and visualization framework specifically targeted at Verification, Validation and Uncertainty Quantification (VV & amp;UQ) of large scale Engineering and Science Modeling & amp; Simulation (M & amp;S) applications. NIMBLE software consists of several layers: Data Extractors (Meta and Micro), Data Visualizations and Content Data Management. Commercial Applications and Other Benefits: NIMBLE shall enable engineers in Aerospace, Aviation, Automotive, Chemical Processing, Gas Turbines, Power Plant (Nuclear and Fossil Fuel), and Defense to expand their use of of High Performance Computing and Modeling and Simulation. The commercialization strategy is to launch an open-source product embodying the principles of NIMBLE and to generate revenue by offering support subscriptions and bundling FieldView licenses.
