Abstract:
The feasibility of fabricating hypersonic aircraft components from metastable Beta Titanium alloy (Beta 21S) will be investigated. Techniques for the fabrication of the leading edges, inlet, and nozzle areas of a hypersonic (Mach 4-5) testbed aircraft from Beta 21S will be selected and preliminary drawings, specifications, and test procedures for these components will be developed.
