Not Available A program is presented for developing ceramic materials for operation at 3700-4900 F (2038-2704 C) with non-aluminized propellants and at 4900-6200 F (2704-3427 C) with aluminized propellants. At the lower temperature range the promising HfBx-HfCy-SiC-XX compositions will be evaluated where XX are rare earth borides such as YB2. These alloys (without XX) exhibited very good performance in arc jet (low pressure) evaluation and must now be evaluated in a rocket engine environment (high pressure). At the higher temperature range, TaC will be evaluated along with HfC for comparison. No data is available on TaC in this particular temperature range and pressure.
