Abstract

The aims and opportunities of Photo-Automatic-Linking for 3-D Facial-Imaging System(PALS-3D) are focused on innovative development, iterative evolving, and near-term fielding of modular inexpensive imaging systems that enable users to capture a person’s face in three dimensions(3-D) and identify the individual based on two dimensions(2-D) and/or 3-D baseline imagery using lightweight, low power, man portable technology. Specifically, PALS-3D utilizes an automatic real-time 4 stage hyper-stereo and ranging process that enables reliable identifications at ranges in excess of 100m of targeted persons and groups within buildings, natural and urban environments. Uniquely, the modular components are all Commercial-Off-The-Shelf innovatively architected to enable user customization for ranges up to 300m as well as selection of many different vendors based upon costs, quality, and evolving COTS technology. PALS-3D system designs are ruggedized, lightweight modules with small-form factors which are easy to use, easy to maintain in field operations by individual warfighters, on vehicles and placed for unattended operation (overt, covert and camouflaged options) including military and/or commercial network support. Networked integration support also includes other biometrics in general, and Advanced Anti-Terror Technologies’ commercialization with our patent-pending Network-Optimized-Scent-Sensor-Environmental-Module(NOSE-M) and Audio-Jamming/Decoy/Remote-Communication Modules products in specific. PALS 3-D enables a wide-range of military/commercial enhanced identification and security-screening applications.
