Abstract:

ADVANCED OPTICAL SYSTEMS PROPOSES TO CONCEPTUALLY DESIGN, EXPERIMENTALLY VALIDATE AND DOCUMENT A MULTI-POINT FIBER-OPTIC NETWORK TO SUPPORT SIMULTANEOUS MULTIPLE RADAR SYSTEM INPUTS. THE PROPOSED NETWORK DESIGN WILL INCLUDE THE NETWORK TOPOLOGY, PROTOCOL STRUCTURE, AND CRITICAL ITEM SPECIFICATIONS NECESSARY TO SUPPORT BEACON/IFF, ANALOG RADAR VIDEO CHANNELS, AND CONTROL INFORMATION OVER THE NETWORK FROM MULTIPLE INPUT SOURCES. THE STUDY EFFORT WILL EMPLOY REPRESENTATIVE OPTICAL COMPONENTS (FIBER, CONNECTORS, COUPLERS, SOURCES AND DETECTORS) AND A TEST TRANSCEIVER TO VALIDATE SYSTEM PERFORMANCE PARAMETERS OVER THE EXPECTED TEMPERATURE ENVIRONMENT. INTERFACE ELECTRONICS NECESSARY TO ADAPT THE NETWORK TO THE INPUT RADAR SIGNALS WILL BE ADDRESSED. LINE CODING SCHEMES CAPABLE OF SUPPORTING THE EXPECTED SPARSE DATA INPUTS REPRESENTATIVE OF RADAR SIGNALS WILL BE INVESTIGATED.
