Abstract:
Today multi-domain information sharing (MDIS) relies on single domain networks connected by highly assured, dedicated guards that implement a cross domain solution (CDS) that is trusted to move information securely between those domains. Work on Phase I of the Xenon-Based, Host Resident, Assured (XEBHRA) Cross Domain Solution SBIR explored the implications of ongoing efforts to improve configuration flexibility and meet the needs of dynamic coalitions by separating guard functionality from the CDS. The research conducted on Phase I established the technical and commercial feasibility of leveraging Xenon, a highly assured, separation hypervisor, to isolate security domains from each other and to restrict interactions between those domains to only those authorized by CDS policy. Phase II work will address engineering issues identified during Phase I to build and demonstrate a prototype XEBHRA CDS in a relevant Navy environment, thereby attaining TRL 6 or higher maturity.
