Abstract

Aerius Photonics plans to improve the performance of ErAs-doped InGaAs by using bulk ternary materials. Using ErAs nanoparticles enables the selective filtering of carriers reducing the thermal conductivity while maintaining electrical conductivity. Aerius approach of using bulk ternary crystals allows them to tailor the bandgap to provide the optimal filtering. After optimizing the composition and doping, Aerius will assemble arrays that they expect to be capable of over 100W of power generation at efficiencies approaching 20%.
