Abstract:
PacAstro has shown that significant cost reduction and operational advantages are possible for small orbital and suborbital mission using a simple pressure fed, LOX/Kerosene vehicle configuration. Under private and government funding, we have begun development of the engine which is critical to realize extremely low cost, highly reliable and highly capable space transportation. Beginning with a proven, qualified design completed by NASA in the 60's, PacAstro proposes to apply modern materials and manufacturing techniques, combined with highly integrated design and development procedures proven by us in development of other low cost, highly capable space systems, to produce a high performance engine suitable for upper stage applications at costs 1% to 5% of currently existing engines. Under the proposed program we will design, analyze, build and deliver an advanced, low cost, light weighted injector for the engine. Under commercial financing, PacAstro will build and test the engine which will be coupled with this advanced injector.
