Aeronix will develop a MANET communication system for the SL-UAV. Aeronix proposes that this system will meet the following objectives: 1) UAV Command, Control and Status - The communication system will support command, control and status to the autopilot and guidance system of the SL-UAV via a supported serial interface. 2) Standards- based Video Signal Processing - The communication system will receive video in RS-170 format (both color and monochrome). The video will be digitized, compressed and packetized for efficient transmission from the SL-UAV to the host aircraft. The system will implement compression and packetization following a COTS standard that can be readily displayed on the host aircraft with a COTS video display and a COTS CODEC. 3) IP-based Protocol - The communication system will use Internet Protocol for transmission and reception of video, command, control and status between the SL-UAV and the host aircraft. 4) Low Power Dissipation - The communications system will be designed to minimize power consumption. Power management will be applied to permit scaling of frame rate, transmission power and bandwidth. 5) Environment survivability - The communications system will be designed to survive the environment exposure of the SL-UAV during transport, deployment and flight operations.
