Abstract:

The goal of the proposed Phase II effort is to transition the optical router and switch design investigations in Phase 1 to a demonstrable hybrid router/switch design that incorporates Spacewire Router (or similar) control plane logic into a compact, multi-gigabit optical interconnect for satellite networks that may be extended to terabit per second bandwidth regimes. BENEFIT: Enables high-speed onboard satellite processing of gigabit sampled data.
