Abstract:
Advanced optimization-based algorithms for sensor resource management have been previously developed to support Level 1 sensor data fusion (object or track-level) estimates. In the proposed effort, ALPHATECH will further develop a computational framework that can be used to represent the expected information value of planned sensor measurements as it contributes to higher-level situation inferences concerning force units (Level 2 fusion). We will develop a computational collection valuation model for automating sensor resource management that estimates the information value to support force unit ID derivable from a subsequent sensor data exploitation process. This modeling framework will adapt current research in performance modeling of Level 1 and Level 2 fusion processes to the problem of stochastic modeling and scheduling for automated sensor resource management and will be integrated within our existing sensor resource management evaluation environment to determine its utility when considering realistic sized battlefield scenarios.
