Abstract:
During Phase I, an Autonomous HandheldNavigation/Communication/Tracking system has been developed, evaluated and demonstrated. The American GNC corporation's(AGNC) commercial product, AGNCTM-2000 CMIMU/GPS PalmNavigatorTM, was integrated with wireless network technology toachieve an autonomous navigation solution while maintaining trackand communication with other participants. During Phase II, thehardware prototype of the proposed system will be built andtested. The core algorithms will be further improved and hostedin an embedded system. The fully functional system will becompletely tested and evaluated in an actual mission. The AGNCcoremicroTM IMU and an innovative integration system make itpossible to build a low cost, lightweight, small size, and highlyaccurate navigator. The advanced navigator and wirelesscommunication technology are designed to realize a small size andlightweight navigation/communication/tracking system. Based on acombination of navigation and communication modules, the proposedsystem will be developed into a commercial product, the MultipleMobile Palm NavigatorTM (MMPN), for a wide variety ofapplications which require continuous tracking and communicationwith all other participants without radio navigation updates.
