Active coatings for Disseminating Bi-Spectral Obscurant Materials

In this program Powdermet will combine controlled particle packing theory, particle interface control through particle coating and improve particle aeration by combining energetic gas formers within the obscurant compact. The end result of the program will be a device that outperforms current burster canisters with existing available obscurant materials and also can be applied to newly developed obscurant materials to improve their performance as well.The key advantage that is being proposed other than anti-binding agents in this proposal is the ability to add a gas-former coating through the obscurant layer filling the space that is typically void. This added active coating will aid in dispersion during the busters operation.
