Abstract

Not Available We propose to develop a high speed tunable semiconductor laser source for tue time delay beam steering of phased array radar antenna systems. The source will be based on a widely tunable multi-section integrated semiconductor laser with all electronic tuning. We will develop a control system that will enable rapid reconfiguration of the laser to any desired wavelength. This system will incorporate a wavelength monitor that can track the laser wavelength over it¿s entire tuning range and multiple high speed current sources for conrol of the laser. The wavelength monitor will be based on a hybrid optoelectronic system that is insensitive to the optical power level over a wide dynamic range and provides a high degree of accuracy and stability.
