Abstract:
The PERSonnel-based Unit of Action Design Environment (PERSUADE) is a software package that facilitates the design of superior military organizations and Command and Control (C2) processes. PERSUADE's interactive simulation, optimization, and decision aid tools will give users the ability to determine the effectiveness of different force compositions and architectures before implementation. PERSUADE is both an instrument and a method for evaluating the degree to which various real-time modifications can be successfully applied to Army organizations to boost their performance. PERSUADE builds on validated organizational modeling and optimal design approaches, extending them to include representations of the informal relationships among unit members (e.g., trust, unit cohesion, experience of leadership), and their effects on unit performance.
