This Phase II SBIR effort will build and demonstrate a full-scaleprototype of NADIA, a software-based automated network faultdiagnosis tool. NADIA will automatically perform real-timeanalysis of the operational data within shipboard networks topinpoint element failures when they occur. It will provideguidance to the shipboard network administrator to perform thenecessary corrective actions needed to maintain networkavailability and performance.Building on the results of a successful Phase I effort thatdeveloped the architecture of NADIA and established itseffectiveness using simulations, Architecture TechnologyCorporation will demonstrate three powerful capabilities of NADIAduring the Phase II prototyping effort: 1) a simulation-basedtool for automatic composition of intelligent agents for networkdiagnosis; 2) cooperative, consensus-driven diagnosis of networkfaults using a collection of diverse and autonomous intelligentagents; and 3) a framework for implementing a distributedcommunity of diagnostic agents that not only allows new types ofagents to be easily integrated into the system, but alsoconserves network resources by allowing agents to share data andcomputing resources.
