Aret¿ has developed a CAD / CAC / CAI algorithm for 3D range data collected by the AQS-20A EOID sensor. The algorithm, called Automatic Real-time Computer-Aided IDentification (ARCAID) performs detection, MLO/NMLO classification, shape classification, Mine/Non-Mine/Unknown identification (ID) and mine-type ID on EOID data compatible with the AQS-20A EOID sensor system.
At the conclusion of the Phase I SBIR program, Aret¿ demonstrated a strong and promising capability for computer-aided classification and identification that may be directly applied to the AQS-20A post-mission analysis (PMA) station for rapid mission review and mine/non-mine decision assistance. The Phase II program will further develop the algorithm and its software/hardware implementation for inclusion in the AQS-20A PMA station. In addition, the Phase II program will position the algorithm for inclusion in a Pre-Planned Product Improvement (P3I) of the AQS-20A EOID sensor system where real-time computer-aided classification and identification will be possible on-the-fly. The ARCAID algorithm will also be highly suitable for other missions, such as the MRUUV program.
