Abstract

A REALITY TODAYS WARFARE IS BEING CONFRONTED WITH BOTH NUCLEAR AND DIRECTED ENERGY WEAPONS (DEWS). DEFENSE AND COUNTERMEASURES AGAINST THESE THREATS ARE THE ONLY DETERRANTS TO ASSAULTS AND ATTACKS BY ENEMY FORCES. THE SOURCES OF DEWS MAY BE AGRESSOR FORCES, ORBITING SATELLITE STATIONS, OR EMBEDDED DEVICES WITHIN OUR BOARDERS. COUPLED NUCLEAR EFFECTS MAY ALSO COME FROM EXPLOSIVE DEVICES, MISSILES, OR FROM CONTAMINATION THAT HAS BEEN INFILTRATED INTO OUR COUNTRY FOR SELECTIVE APPLICATIONS. DEFENSE PREPARATION OF COUNTERMEASURES REQUIRED RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT, AND IDENTIFICATION OF NEUTRALIZATION TECHNIQUES ESSENTIAL TO THE SURVIVING OF COUPLED OFFENSIVE DEW/NUCLEAR SYSTEMS. PRIME TARGETS FOR SELECTIVE APPLICATION OF DEWS ARE HUMANS. IMMOBILIZATION OF SELECTED INDIVIDUALS, DISORIENTATION, OR DECISION REVERSAL DURING HIGHLY STRESSED SITUATIONS IS AN EFFECTIVE APPLICATION OF DEWS THAT HAS RECEIVED LITTLE ATTENTION. THIS PROJECT PROPOSES SPECIFIC METHODS OF IDENTIFICATION, NEUTRALIZATION, AND COUNTERMEASURES FOR COUPLED DEW/NUCLEAR WEAPONS. EFFECTS OF EMBEDDED AND ORBITAL DEWS ON GROUPS OF PEOPLE, EQUIPMENT, OPERATING SYSTEMS AND DECISION MAKING PERSONNEL ARE INVESTIGATED IN PHASE I. EMPHASIS IS ON ELECTRONIC BIOFEEDBACK CONDITIONING SYSTEMS.
