Abstract:
Aspen Systems Inc. proposes to develop a proprietary modular cooling system for SATCOM-OTM applications. This system will be highly adaptable and have the capability to maintain lower than ambient temperatures in mobile radome enclosures that are deployed to hot desert environments. While maintaining these low operating temperatures, the electronics systems will be completely sealed against dirt rain and dust, and be fully hardened to meet MIL STD-810F environmental requirements. The system will be integrated to the existing antenna mount on the vehicle and can be tailored to mate with a variety of antenna systems. The system will be designed for minimum power consumption, minimum weight, maximum efficiency, and long life. With small size and high cooling power, multiple compressors can be integrated into one environmental control system to increase the cooling capacity of larger antenna systems. At the conclusion of the Phase II program, a fully hardened ECU ready for full field testing and deployment will be developed. The system was thermally tested at the conclusion of Phase I, with a production ready system anticipated for the conclusion of Phase II.
