Development of a Near-Field Acoustic Holography System for Noise Source Characterization of a Full-scale Jet
This SBIR Phase II proposal addresses the development of a combined near-field acoustic holography (NAH)/beamforming (BF) system to characterize jet noise sources from military aircraft. The hardware and software designs are motivated by requirements set by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Wright-Patterson AFB. The technical approach focuses on (1) development and validation of novel array architectures and signal processing through lab-scale jet noise tests, followed by (2) detailed design of a full-scale, 120-channel NAH/BF array for validation tests on actual aircraft jet plumes at the conclusion of the program.
