Abstract:
Not Available Visidyne proposes to demonstrate the potential of a Precision Photonic Clock Oscillator for a GPS receiver. Using the path, time delay of a length of optical fiber to stabilize a frequency results in excellent short term stability and the highly predictable behavior of a length of fiber with temperature and time are expected to lead to improved long term stability and at a greatly reduced power consumption. Availing of recent developments such as Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser Diodes (VCSELD's) that are low cost should also allow the stated cost objectives to be realized.
