Abstract
Mach and UT Austin will design a highly-compact linear gas compression system for multiple Air Force applications. We will integrate this compact linear gas compressor with MachÆs ōPrometheusö tactical hydrogen generation system to enable unique ACE capabilities. ?Electric power generation for aviation ground support and contingency bases ?Hydrogen fueling of long-range UAVs, with 1000+ mile range ?Hydrogen fueling of long-range eVTOL aircraft, with 1000 lbs payload capacity and 400 mile rangeĀ ?Air Force / DOE atmospheric nuclear blast residue monitoring, using compact air compression Mach Industries and UT Austin will reduce the size of gas compression by 94% and the weight by 67%, at a design cost of 5x to 9x the power consumption, compared to traditional pneumatic compressors. This enables mobile, compact production of compressed hydrogen fuel for Air Force contested logistics and distributed warfare.
