Abstract

The escalating challenge of managing increasing volumes of organic waste poses a pressing environmental threat, necessitating innovative solutions. This proposal addresses the critical need for sustainable waste management, aligning with DOE's interest in advancing public initiatives related to environmental conservation and clean energy generation. Enexor BioEnergy ("Enexor"), in collaboration with Idaho National Laboratory (ôINLö), proposes a project focused on the development and commercialization of a modular pre-processing system that will transform a wide array of organic materials, including agricultural and food waste, into biofuels for Enexorĺs distributed Bio-CHP to generate renewable electricity and thermal energy. In Phase I, Enexor will test and showcase the capabilities of the developed pre-processing methods through a Bio-CHP demonstration unit at its facility to measure the viability and operational effectiveness of the biofuels created using organic waste streams from AB InBev in Idaho Falls. Phase I In Phase I, Enexor and INL plan to mix organic algae waste and barley dust and utilize extrusion technology to maximize algae waste processed. Subsequently, Enexor will run the processed feedstock through the Bio-CHP to generate energy. Concurrently, Enexor will collect market and techno-economic data to conduct a report on financial feasibility, environmental impact, market impact, and impact on disadvantaged communities. Expanding through Phase II, III, and beyond, the project holds promising commercialization opportunities, with immense economic and environmental benefits for various industries throughout the United States.
