Abstract

Enduralock is proposing a universal satellite docking interface that would be mission agnostic. A standardized connector for this purpose must enable a mechanical linkage sufficient for in-space transport, power/data transfer, and fuel transfer. The ability to make incremental upgrades - through modular satellite building blocks that have standardized connections - ensures the most technologically advanced satellite network, since it is adaptable to the needs of the DoD at any point in time.Such upgrades could include, but are not limited to:        -A satellite defense module        -Module for an increase of power input/output of a satellite        -Electronics upgrade module        -Refueling module        -Secure release of software upgrades to protect against vulnerabilities in the system        -Sensor modulesStandardization of a particular satellite docking system for DoD satellites provides a platform to enable the most rapid implementation possible of technological upgrades to a satellite network. However, careful selection of the best docking system is critical due to the widespread implications of such a decision, since the limitations and boundaries of what can be added to the satellite network becomes constrained by the docking system's capabilities. By maximizing the capabilities of the connector while minimizing the footprint, the ideal satellite docking solution is created.
