Abstract

An improved computer module for representing rotor flow field effects on flight dynamics response is proposed for development. This model extends finite-state dynamic inflow models to address current limitations in predicting rotorcraft off-axis response to control inputs. The software module also includes features for representing rotor operation in the vortex ring state. The model is novel in that it is designed for interfacing with a wide variety of helicopter flight dynamics codes, and is to be validated using both flight experiments and moving model test data.
