Abstract

It is proposed to formulate an equation(s) to describe the (A) evaporation and (B) death rates of aerosolized bacteria in their spent culture fluid droplets. This formulation will account for effects of atmospheric temperature, relative humidity, solar radiation, droplet solute concentration, and droplet size effects perhaps including effects of solute-particle (i.e,, bacteria) concentration and packing. It is proposed to prepare this formulation in broad sense with what is known by the eminent participants in the project: an aeromicrobiologist, an atmospheric physicist, and atmospheric engineer/scientist. Subsequently the following sequence will be followed: (1) search the literature for relevant formulae, (2) prepare computer algorithms expressing the evaporation rate and bacterial survival in their spent culture fluid, and (3) validating the evaporation and death rate model using known data.
