Abstract

The need for a system which can locate mobile, potentially hostile sources over a wide frequency range across the low frequency (LF, 10 kHz - 1 MHz) to microwave (mwave, 1 - 10 GHz) bands mandates a new type of antenna technology that can cover this frequency range with high fidelity. We propose to develop a wideband, rapidly tunable, compact, low power receive antenna that can be integrated into existing SIGINT/COMINT systems. These receiver subsystems will offer uniquely wide frequency range, low power operation, high sensitivity, and light weight. We have previously demonstrated that this technology can be used from DC to 8 GHz, with 80 dB of dynamic range.
