Coordinated Data and Scoring for Usage Based Insurance

This SBIR phase I project will extend an existing collaboration with multiple insurance companies to identify a common prototype data set and risk scoring algorithm that are independent of the devices deployed for data collection. Collection devices include some commonly used by various telematics service providers, as well as mobile devices. Parameters will include at a minimum deceleration and mileage with an assessment of the feasibility of including other parameters in this or future revisions of the protocol. A system design will be outlined that is compatible with existing standards where they exist, as well as addressing some of the unmet needs for data quality validation.
