Abstract

A CONCRETE CONSOLIDATION SYSTEM WILL BE DEVELOPED WHICH TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THE RESONANCE PHENOMENON AND HARMONIC COMBINATION OF INTERNAL AND SURFACE VIBRATIONS FOR EFFICIENTACHIEVEMENT OF UNIFORM AND THOROUGH CONSOLIDATION OF CONCRETE PAVEMENTS. AN INTEGRATED ANALYTICAL-EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH IS PLANNED TO ASSESS THE TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY AND COST COMPETITIVENESS OF THE PROPOSED APPROACH. ANALYTICAL TECHNIQUES WILL BE USED TO DESIGN THE SYSTEM AND DECIDE ITS OPTIMUM OPERATION CONDITIONS. A LABORATORY-SCALE VERSION OFTHE SYSTEM WILL BE MANUFACTURED, AND AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY WILL BE CONDUCTED TO DETERMINE ITS EFFECTIVENESS AND EFFICIENCY. THE PERFORMANCE AND LIFE-CYCLE COST OF THE PROPOSED SYSTEM WILL BE COMPARED WITH THOSE OF CONVENTIONAL SURFACE AND INTERNAL VIBRATORS.
