We propose innovative enhancements to EOSAEL providing Microsoft Windows operations with icons, 3D visualization and animation, sophisticated plotting, and CD-ROM. Moreover, we will incorporate portable software components that allow the software to run on other environments including Sun, SGI, and DEC. Iconic operation will allow minimal operator input for difficult and error prone operations such as creating vehicles that change direction and speed, or positioning perspective LOS of moving clouds. The 3D visualization environment allows realistic scenario development and presentation of module outputs (e.g. clouds) in highly rendered animations. Terrain features (bushes, tundra, farmland, roads) will be automatically mapped onto the landscape. A novel capability we propose is the ability to view the 3D environment at specified wavelengths (as the sensor would "see" it). Sophisticated plotting provides 2D and 3D plotting with minimal operator input. For example, users can easily obtain color graphic plots to determine how the extinction for LOS 3 varies in the 3-5 band and the 8-12 band as a function of time.
