Abstract

Our central goal is to develop easy-to-use software tools, for the PROPHET community, to querythese resources and extract relevant information. The software will provide a modern graphical userinterface and also command-line/scripting tools for specifying the query, and will offer transparentnetwork access for retrieving results. It will incorporate the recently developed NCBI standards forsequence data representation and access and will be seamlessly integrated into existing PROPHET userinterface and data management facilities. Phase I of the project focuses on identifying andcharacterizing relevant genomic information facilities and servers, and designing ways to integrate thesefacilities into PROPHET. Phase I will also prototype an experimental link between PROPHET and asoon-to-be-available client-server version of NCBI BLAST, in order to help validate our overall approach.
