The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases has identified the need for mateaching intensive insulin therapy to reduce complications of diabetes. In response to this need, winteractive multimedia program for teaching IIT to adolescents-aged 13 to 17 years old. IM, the inttechnology with computer-simulated human interaction, is the educational medium of choice for learnigames and simulations of real life - strategies which have been shown to be especially successful inchanges in the target-age group. Phase I technical objectives include development of an ITT programprogram with interactive multimedia presentation technology, and formative-evaluation of the systemusuability and short term effects, such as knowledge and attitudinal changes. The efficacy of an exof behavioral changes, quality of life, and maintenance of euglycemia will be addressed in Phase II.National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS)
