Abstract

The development of a micro unmanned vehicle requires an extremely small, lightweight navigation system. The combination of a miniature GPS receiver with micro-machined accelerometer/gyros (MGIMU) provides the ideal solution. When integrated with its own processor performing navigation, Kalman filtering and flight control/guidance, a powerful precision aided navigation system is produced. The sever weight and of the airframe. The tight integration of a GPS/inertial system with in-flight alignment and calibration allows the use of small, relatively low performance micro-machine inertial sensors. Phase I of the program is the conceptual design, and Phase II is the development and test of the brassboard hardware.
