Abstract

Not Available Laser sources are required to achieve many National Defense requirements for range finders, illuminators, mid-IR sources for countermeasures (IRCM), and solid state optical radars for range gated imaging, autonomous piloting, targeting and guidance. Significant advancements have been made over the last few years in laser capability such as wavelength coverage and output power, but these sources are rarely deployed in operational systems due to the significant problems of cost, reliability and size. Aculight is a key player developing lower cost diode pumped solid state lasers with Navy and Air Force funding. This proposal describes the development of a compact, low cost diode driver that will enable Aculight to deliver a complete source to the Navy for a Tomahawk LIDAR system.
