Abstract

Exquadrum proposes to develop and demonstrate a CubeSat scale propulsion system that will provide responsive and high-thrust propulsive capability. The CubeSat propulsion system will have a high impulse density, use extremely small amounts of electric power, be capable of variable thrust levels, and have the capability of dwelling years between propulsive events. Other benefits of the proposed modular propulsion system include a low part count, unpressurized launch and non-toxic propellant. The project team will also design a CubeSat for testing the propulsion system in Low Earth Orbit. Particular emphasis will be placed on ensuring safety and reliability of the propulsion system during all mission phases. During the proposed Phase I project, the team will conduct a laboratory-scale feasibility determining experiment of this innovative, propulsion technology.
