Abstract

Altex, a small business entity, and Pennsylvania State University (PSU), a research institution, have teamed up under this STTR program to develop the Low Cost High Durability reactor that reduces the cost of logistic fuel reforming by an order of magnitude. LCHD uses the PSU’s novel low cost catalyst and an Altex innovative reactor design with low manufacturing cost. Under the proposed program the base catalyst and reactor design will be utilized to develop, fabricate, and test a subscale LCHD reactor on JP-8. These test results and analysis will be used to project the LCHD cost, durability, and performance. The Phase I work will be the basis of Phase II under which a prototype LCHD reformer will be developed and delivered to the Army for validation and verification of performance.
