Abstract

Securboration is proposing to build a prototype tool called CRATE - Cyber Risk Assessment for Threatened Environments, which will take as input mission requirements and run-time transactions, and produce a mission-centric threat map (as opposed to network-node-centric which most COTS tools do) during execution. It will trace the run-time behavior of various processes in the system that expose those processes most likely to compromise the mission. CRATE we will develop and study those envelops of behavior for various mission objectives within which processes can be crated or binned as white-listed. Outside this envelop they will be flagged for further scrutiny (grey-listed) or elimination (black-listed). We will build a prototype authentication module during this project which can provide mission assurance at run-time that all transactions in the cyberspace have a legitimate mission-oriented or mission-justified presence. We will be utilizing the skill sets of Dr. Eunice Santos from the Illinois Institute of Technology.Dr. Santos expertise in modeling of transaction and cyber trust will be critical in categorizing transactions into (whitelist, greylist and blacklist).
