We propose to continue developing the DeBLOOM blockchain platform for securely storing and analyzing messages and transaction data. Our platform will demonstrate many features fundamental to blockchains, but deviate from the basic blockchain construct in several important ways: First, we will utilize a novel consensus protocol (developed in Phase I) for validating new transactions, which is vastly superior to the expensive Proof-of-Work paradigm employed by traditional blockchain applications, both in terms of efficiency as well as formal security. Second, our platform will offer on-chain and off-chain storage capabilities, with tunable settings on what data gets stored on a public transaction ledger and what data is stored securely (encrypted and distributed) in a decentralized database (e.g. the Cloud). Finally, our platform will allow controlled access to both on- and off-chain data, enabling secure and privacy-preserving auditing and analysis. The Stealth team is comprised of experts in the fields of Cryptography, Secure Communication, and Software Engineering, and we are uniquely positioned to provide the security, privacy, validity, and auditability that our platform will provide. Indeed, a number of technologies developed by Stealth members will provide fundamental building blocks for our architecture, e.g. efficient zero-knowledge proofs, private-information retrieval, and Oblivious RAM.
