Abstract

We propose a high performance, cost-effective, universal Digital Assay Solutions platform with Mobile Readers, Assay Development and Calibration Software, and HIPAA-compliant cloud services for global health and defense applications. In Phase II project, we have developed the first generation product family receiving considerable interest from the assay manufacturers, government organizations and healthcare professionals with initial global sales. In this Sequential Phase II work, we outline a systematic work plan to significantly enhance the system design and performance (trans-visual sensitivity), lower the cost of the reader units (<$150), create modular mobile software for multi-use applications (e.g., personalized health and clinical studies), include multi-mode imaging capability and integrate the platform into the electronic health and laboratory information systems. The capability for wide area spatiotemporal disease surveillance developed in Phase II will be expanded for global applications in resource-limited environments. Furthermore, the new generation products will eliminate the need for the use of a dedicated smartphone device and work with any mobile device type and model (smartphone, tablet or personal computer) that runs our mobile application. The proposed platform offers a unique all-in-one solution to realize the potential of rapid assay technologies for personalized health, public health, national security and emergency services.
