Abstract

Innoflight will develop a high performance software-defined compact radio (SCR) with Ka and X dual band downlink capability and S Band uplink capability. The Ka / X SCR will support 300 Mbps downlink and 5 Mbps uplinks rates using advanced spectrally efficient waveforms. It will offer interoperability with standard government and commercial ground stations such as the Army RGT (Remote Ground Terminal), AFSCN (Air Force Satellite Control Network), NASA Near Earth Network (NEN), and multiple commercial service networks. It will support advanced waveform processing include various spectrally efficient modulation techniques, forward error correction methods and simple bus interfaces. Link confidentiality and authentication will be supported by internal encryption suite or an external certified unit such as the Innoflight Gnome. A built-in Solid State Data Recorder (SSDR) will host up to 1 TByte of mission data and support the full downlink throughput of 300 Mbps. Innoflight will leverage our on-orbit heritage and market leading SCR technology as the point of departure in order to reduce the overall design risk and focus on the high risk elements of this effort.
