The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) believes there may be advantages to using Augmented Reality (AR) technologies, including the associated benefits of Internet of Things (IoT) capabilities, for improving procurement, logistics and distribution processes in its operations today. Commercial businesses around the world are proving gains in reliability, repeatability, and reduced process costs in all aspects of business. The emergence of state-of-the art technology specifically developed to ease adoption and utilization has provided a means for organizations develop and deploy cost-effective solutions. Companies such as PTC and Microsoft have made IoT and AR a focus in recent years. PTC purchased and integrated ThingWorxTM, an IoT connectivity platform into its core product lifecycle management tool set and it has partnered with Microsoft with the deployment of AR and IoT on the HoloLensTM platform. Boston Engineering is proposing a solution that combines best-in-class software tools with advancement in user interface needed for practical utilization of these technologies in industrial settings, including warehouses, depots, and field deployment stations. Our team members and supporters greatly increase our ability to fully assess the potential and layout a technology implementation path for DLA to capture the significant value expected.
