Abstract

Global Engineering and Materials, Inc. (GEM) along with its team member National Institute for Aviation Research (NIAR) at Wichita State University will further extend and validate CB2ATA (Composite Bolted and Bonded Analysis Toolkit for Abaqus) under multiaxial fatigue loading using cruciform specimens and a Triton wing section. A combined numerical and experimental study will be performed to determine the effects of initial damage on residual strength and life under multiaxial loading. Distinct fatigue damage accumulation rates under different combinations of stress ratios will be included in the CB2ATA analysis module. Multiaxial fatigue tests will be performed using cruciform specimens with and without repair and results will be used to validate CB2ATA at component level. Our team member, NIAR, will complete a testing rig along with its instrumentation for the full-scale static and fatigue tests of the Triton wing section. Multiple actuators with independent control systems will be implemented to be able to apply representative operating loads on the Triton wing section for validation of CB2ATA at structural level. A global and local modeling will be used by GEM and an initial distribution of damage from NIAR’s NDI will be mapped into the CB2ATA analysis model. Static response prediction will be
