Abstract

TDA Research Inc., and its industrial clothing manufacturing collaborator propose to develop a simple, comfortable, lightweight, durable cooling shirt that will keep welders in Navy shipyards cool and comfortable, while protecting them against heat related illness. The shirt uses a minimum of consumables. TDA’s cooling shirt technology has been patented (U.S. 9,635,889 Bl, Cooling Garment, May 2, 2017) and is currently at Technology Readiness Level 3 (TRL-3). By the end of the project, we will have fabricated and tested a number of TRL 7 prototypes and delivered them to the Navy for testing. Successful development of TDA’s cooling shirt will result in technology transition where shirts are procured by the Navy.
