Abstract

Unlike current inspection platforms that capture a handful of wide range color bands in the visible spectrum, Orbital Sidekick's high resolution hyperspectral platform captures hundreds of narrow contiguous color bands across the visible and infrared regions of the spectrum, uniquely generating a radiometric footprint of each pixel in every image set. OSK’s unparalleled spectral resolution enables monitoring of radiometric change with 100X higher spectral resolution than current Earth observation (EO) systems, at 1/10th of the cost. OSK is on schedule to build a constellation of five nanosatellites by 2021. This growing constellation will enable daily target monitoring across a continuous spectral range spanning the visible to shortwave infrared regions (VSWIR, 400-2500 nm), and at relatively low cost. OSK innovates need-based tasking schemes, on-board processing and georectification of hyperspectral data cubes, real-time anomaly alerts, and in-depth analytics delivered via OSK’s analytics platform called Spectral Intelligence. The platform is designed around a multi-tenant, scalable, service-oriented architecture facilitating spiral development and ease of evolution, expansion and refinement, with scalability to support an expanding user community.
